I bought some discontinued Polk Audio 6x8 speakers locally for cheap - now I need to install them... I did some stereo installations in my youth, but it's been a handful years since then, and cars have changed a bit, too.
What I'm looking for is cook-book style step-by-step instructions on how to R/R the 6 speakers. Specifically, how to R/R the door panels and rear panel.
Any pointers?
Thanks,

I wrote the following for another post on door locks ...
Pull the black plastic panels covering the mirror mounting bolts ... pull straight away from the door frame ... held in by clips. Next, carefully pry off the courtesy light lenses ... there's a slot there for a small screwdriver ... I belive on the aft end. Then pry up the forward end of each window switch panel ... again held by a clip ... tilt the forward end up & disconnect the wiring harness from the switches. Behind the lenses and the switch panels are retainer screws ... remove them. Then (and this is the part I love) simply lift the interior panel straight up ... no clips like older designs. MAKE CERTAIN you unplug the courtesy lamp from the door panel BEFORE you pull the panel completely away from the door.
There is another post ... either here or at FTE ... that discusses how to pull the large rear side panels. Look for posts on speaker / stereo installation. Good luck!
PS - UPS site says my old radius-rods will be on your doorstep this coming Monday.

Don't know if those Polks will fit or not. Technically the X has 5x7's from the factory. Have heard that some 6x8's will work though.
I installed 6x9's anyway...just had to do a little trimming. I installed 6" in the front doors though without any mods.
Good luck!
