My battery is the OEM that came on the X and is starting to get tired. Do you guys have a favorite brand or any other suggestions for a new one?

Can't go wrong with an Optima...that's if you have the extra dough. Otherwise I always buy the Wally World brand with the 5 year warranty. Haven't had a problem with them yet!

There are only a small handful of battery manufacturers in the US. Most batteries are simply rebadged for that particular brand.
The Optimas are excellent batteries! But I've run the Wally world batteries in mine for years with no problems. Even had one in my Excursion.

Speaking of batteries, when should they be replaced? |

Tally my vote for Optima, too. Have had one in my GT40 almost 5 years now, and it's still at 97% of its original condition .... voltage and CCA. Had it checked when I thought it was starting to die ... but the problem was with my starter motor.
When to replace? The generic battery I had in my ol' F350 lasted 7 years. Some die young, but the good ones keep going, and going, and going, and ........ (visualize the pink bunny) |

I vote for the optima also I have 4 of them. Yes 4, 2 on the right and two on the left. I love em! They really stand up to what I use them for. I have a 400 amp draw from the sound system.

After I screwed my battery on my Avalanche, I bought a yellow top Optima and plan on purchasing two more for my Excursion. To be honest, another good battery is AC Delco. Yes, it's sold by GM, but it is built really well. My father swears by them. He actually made fun of me for buying Optima, though mainly because he had never heard of them. After I gave him the lowdown on how you cannot destroy the battery by running it completely dead - as I had in my Avalanche with the factory battery - he thought more highly of them. Though he still buys AC Delco. |
