I am a recent purchaser of a used X. I've had a 350E diesel and pickups but this is the best vehicle I have ever owned!

One rear door lock only works manually and the rear lift gate lock does not work at all. It appears to be controlled strickly by the remote which is not working. Can anyone give me any tips on removing the door panel or liftgate trim to get at them?

First, welcome to the forum! Second, check out the following post on the same subject:

After un-screwing the handle from the rear trim panels, they simply pull off from their retaining clips. Don't bother pulling the top cross-piece or the side pieces. All you'll need to remove is the lower cross-piece ... BUT keep an eye out for any metal clips that may fly off. I must've spent an hour searching for one of mine.

Again, welcome!
