I own a 2000 x psd want to know is a 4" lift enough for 35's or do I need to go to a 6" lift. With 35's will I need to change gearing also? Last question with all the kits out there what is the best and what should I stay away from. Any help would be great. |

I thought for sure on this great site I'd get at Least one opion. Maybe if I said I'm new to the site and how much I love my big, powerful, everybody wish they had one Excursion, I'd get a reply. Well see if that helps. |

Depends on the lift kit. Some say 4" but don't truly lift it 4"
I'd say go 6" if you're gonna do it. You'll eventually want it anyway...
As to which kit is best, that's kinda up to those folks who have them installed. One challenge however, would be that most folks have only used 1 brand on their Excursion. A search through the threads may help.
I don't think you'll have to regear to have that PSD turn those 35's. I would chip it or add a tuner if it were mine, though. That being said, a tuner AND a regear could turn it into a monster!!
Also, to help get a bit more attention to a thread, think hard about the title. It's got to catch the reader.
Even wording your title "Help me buy a lift kit!!" or something similar will always get a reader's mind going before he even opens the thread.
Plus adding as much vehicle info as possible helps. Like, is your truck already modified? Is it a 4WD (don't want to ASSume, ya know!)?
And as far as lift and tires...What brands have you considered already? etc. etc. When we have more specifics we are able to "think better" to help you out.

Thanks Monsta, I'll take your advice. I did check again and did find a thread, missed it before, that really helps. The pics that were on the threads from MrRottenDog and Mongo were great thanks guys. You are also right not to assume any thing.
My X sits stock now on 265's. I do have a Bully Dog 4 bank chip on the PSD and it is a 4x4. I've looked at Fab-Tech, RDS, and Edge lift kits. I've noticed that you can get them that just use shackels and your old front springs or new front springs. I don't like the sound of using old springs, but what do I know. Thanks guys for your help. |

What kind of `03 4x4? .You can do that with a F250 or 350 not a X. The X sits 2" lower than the F250 and 350. I`ve got 5-1/2" of lift and 35`s and rub big time. Go with the 6"

I have a 2003 Limited 4x4 and I just recently put 315/75/16 on my stock rims. The only time I rub is on full lock turns. |

I have a 2002 X Limited with 305/55/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers on 20" wheels (No Lift). I believe they would be 33" x 12.5" in the old school speak. They only rub in the front at Full Lock out and I have 1/2" thick Mud Flaps installed, so maybe yours would rub arall.

I own a 2000 v-10 X. I lifted it 6 in. and have 35" x 12.5" tires on 10' x 16" rims with factory offset. I had to trim corners off of front air dam to keep tire lugs from catching in full lock turns, but M/T Baja Claws have pretty good size lugs. An all-terrain type tire may not require trimming. As far as gears I have 3.73's and it does not leave the line hard but doesn't bog down either. V-10 has plenty of torque and of course so does the PSD. I only lost 1MPG on average. I used a Revtek lift, and had never heard of it before. I chose it because of price, $895.00 plus shipping on revtek.com. I don't know if it was a mistake or not but I only had to pay $10.00 for shipping. All other lifts were $110.00 for shipping. I don't know if they fixed the price yet or not. Kit went in with no problem and has been working fine. I off-road tested it and all went well. Check my album for pics. Hope this helps, and I'll be happy to answer anymore questions if I can.
