Searched the forum on this subject too. I understand that both these and the lock actuators were garbage and the replacement actuators have been upgraded, but what about these switches? Are they the same and likely to fail again or have they been redesigned? I didn't read any installation instructions but it sounds like the door panels must come off for them too and it would be wise to replace the actuator and the switch at the same time. Any advice? |

The door-ajar switches are inexpensive enough (less than $10 each), so yes, it would be a good idea to install newer pieces while you're inside the doors ... especially if yours is a 2000 or 2001 model. I was told the newer switches are of an improved design, but I could not tell any difference from their exterior surfaces. It's a "fun" job ... patience and a delicate hand are mandatory to swap these things out. If you're a contortionist, you'll have no problem at all. (lol)
I replaced all 6 of mine, yet I still get the "all lights on" condition sometimes when washing the Mighty-X. Maybe I'm spraying water into an area that's not supposed to get wet ... or I got one of the older switches when I replaced 'em all. Do you really think all dealers will throw out the old stock if there's a chance the items will still sell ... on currently manufactured vehicles, no less. |

Just stop washing it and you won't have any problems. LOL
Speaking of which - I need to go out and take some pics of my X. We were exploring some new crow hunting territory yesterday evening and I almost - yeah damn close - got stuck.
This has really got me leaning towards some moderate mud tires.

Hmm. My door jamb swtiches are jacked too -- or at least one is. I've never heard of this problem before. Does anyone know if any other Fords of these years have the same problem?
