I have a few chip questions here. I own a 2000 X 4x4 PSD with about 48000 miles on it. My baby is all stock no lifts or mods not even the air filter. I would like to know all the things I must do when I install a chip. What I mean is exhaust upgrades, intake, and gauges and such. I've read about some of this here, but need to know what is a must a what just helps. The reason I want to chip the PSD is I am going to put on a lift between 4" and 6" and want to make sure the PSD has all the power it needs. Any help on this would be great.
Also if you have any chip suggestion. |

I'm going to be going through the same thing with my new Ex as well. Basicly if you are goiong to chip it/add a fueling box or programer, at a minimum you should have exhaust, more open intake and pyrometer to monitor EGT's. Boost gauge is good and some say also necessary. I'd consider it a must do.
Adding that much power, you're going to make it hot, you need to monitor that and do what you can to keep it cooler. Beyond that, you're 4R100 tranny should get a good looking at. You'll be able to granade it pretty easily with a lot more power added. 
I'm looking forward to more opinions now...

You might consider the Diablo Predator for your 6-oh...
I got one and after a few cycles of the system the tranny DOES seem to be liking it better...
Took it to our Lincoln LS Owners Club Meeting this morning and I had to take 6 of them for a ride in the Ex because the guy that rode with me was thouroughly 'impressed' with the boost of the 425 HP and 780 or so ft-lbs of torque...
Got my first 'peel out' with the +100 HP setting from a standing start with 7 guys in it !

First thing to do on a 2000 is get rid of that lousy air box  for a aftermarket air box or Fords AIS air box. I just inspected a 2000 with 36k on it and Ford voided the warranty due to a dusted engine/owner neglect.
