One more thing to consider getting is a Hitch Hauler, or something similar. It has a flat 20"x60" or so bed to haul stuff on that you don't want to put inside your X. It simply inserts into the receiver and you put a pin in just like putting on a ball. Very handy, especially for hauling gas cans and other stinky items.

P.S. What are the details on your new X? Engine, trim, etc? Congrats.

it's an xls model. power pedals trailor package. nothing fancy. apparently not many are made with only the xls base configuration. it's going to be a kid hauler so the hitch hauler may be the thing we are looking for. any particular site you know of?

also, i would put the truck info with my signature but can't seem to get it right. any ideas?

I got mine from Tractor Supply Co. Here is the product on their website:
http://www.mytscstore.com/detail.asp?pcID=3&paID=1021&sonID=736&productID=9759

Here is another site: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=4006970&storeId=6970&langId=-1&productId=112242&cm_tl=auto&cm_partner=tl

I hope those sites work. Do a search online for "hitch packer" or "hitch hauler" and see what you find. I think Wal Mart has something similar. They are fairly common. I don't use mine often, but I have it in my garage if I need it.

If I remember, go to the top of the page and click on "MY SFO". Then look for something that says Edit Profile or such. There should be a box/place for you to make a Signature. Just type away and keep trying until it suits you.

Are you getting gas or diesel? I will offer one small suggestion - before I owned my X Limited I'd never had a vehicle with leather seats. They seemed like an expense I didn't need. I purchased my X used and of course it has leather. Wellllll, the day my four year old son threw up twice inside the X I learned the value of leather. It just wiped right off. I'll never own another vehicle without leather if I can help it. I've seen the light. If you can afford it check into it.

I got my hitch-a-haul @ WalMart
and you're right, works like a champ...
even put some boat trailer lights on it for when I load the small pickup toolbox I mount to it when I don't want whatevers back there to get wet

Now they have an extender to allow you to move it back and open the rear door a bit...
but I think it lessens the load you can put on it...
