I've got a 2001 Excursion and it's due for a 30,000 mile maintenance visit. They change the fuel filter, air filter, new oil/filter, rotate tires, drain & flush coolant and few other minor checks. Cost $369!
I did check a while ago on the price of a fuel filter and it ain't cheap. Those tires/wheels are heavy too.

I don't follow the factory service guide, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt. I do get the oil changed about every 3000 miles, and try to rotate the tires when necessary, but other than that I don't usually change something unless it really needs it. I've got 64k on the odometer and my X runs great. I do need to have the coolant changed before it gets really hot, but other than that I'm running strong.

When I recently took delivery of my 04 X 6.0L PSD the dealer mentioned several times and hi-lighted in my maintenance book the 30 month/30k mile and 60 month/60k mile service. He said it was critical that the Automatic transmission and transaxle service be completed as scheduled or any warrant claims on these components would be refused.

I can attest to that...
any warranty claims down the road ---- expect to be asked for verification that all scheduled maintenance was done.... either by oasis or receipts from outside agencies...
oil change sites, independent shops... etc...
