Does anyone know what could cause an engine fire on a 04 X 6.0 pwr strk. I have the opportunity to buy one and have never heard of a diesel having a engine fire. Any help. Also I need new front end sheet metal IE: hood and grille, maybe fenders. What is the best aftermarket hood. Do they make a fiberglass mustang style hood? I like the Trends grille stuff, is their any comparable? |

Do you mean that you are hoping to buy an X that caught fire? Or you want to buy a new X but you heard of one that caught fire?

Regarding the hood, I just had a cowl induction hood added to mine. Made by Reflexxion, bought from Street Beat Customs. Cost $539, including shipping. Painting and installation done by the local Ford body shop for $200. Here is a picture (not my truck):

The hood is steel. There was no way I was going with fiberglass. The cowl induction is functional, and it uses the factory hardware to install. The body shop manager made a point to ask me who made the hood, and how much it cost. He said they see a lot of cheap hoods, but were impressed with the quality of this one. Needless to say, that made me even happier with my choice. |

You just never know Dan !!!
I had an engine fire in a jeep CJ-9 and came THIS close to nuying it back fromt he insurance company....
backed out...
saw it a month or so later...
knew it was mine - (cj-9's) were rather unique...a State trooper who had bought it...
put a wiring harness on it and was driving it around !
asked me if anything was wrong with it other than the fire

I know a thing or 2 about Jeeps but I gotta tell ya, I've never heard of a "CJ-9". You have any pics of it or is there anything which distinguishes itself over the 3A, 5, 6, 7 and 8?

Oops caught me - typo's everywhere ! this darn laptop I use for play 
it was a CJ-8 Scrambler ...
I had a CJ-5, twitchy but fast v8 !
then CJ-7, liked it NICE Larado! thought I had arrived when I got the large larado tires for it !
then the CJ-"8" Scrambler - different and fun!
got away from jeeps for a few years..
then the 1998 5.9 limited... classy and fast !
now the Ex

Speaking of Jeeps...
Ya know the Liberty will have an optional diesel in it in 05? Way cool.
And have you seen the Jeep Rescue? It is powered by the Cummins 5.9L "Super 600", ridin' on factory 37s, front and rear lockers on solid axles and a whole host of other goodies...like an integrated front winch! Holy crap!
