I want to change my headlamps to 9007 80/100 watt bulbs and also would like to change the fog lamps too.
Who has done this? And where did you purchase the bulbs? I want to be sure not to put too high a wattage, and not dammage the stock wiring.
Also is there threat of meltinting the fog lamp housing if left on for too long?
I don't want anything blue, I reall would like to stay with the white.
i have also seen somewhere a brighter reverse bulb (3156k stock) that fits into the stock lens.
Can anyone help with locatating a sourse and comments?

I have changed my headlights to 100/80 bulbs. I got them from evilbay for $10. They did not damage the stock wiring at all. I have used them for almost a year now.
Some folks use a special harness with relays available from SUVlights.com and stock bulbs with very good results. The harness allows full "power" to get to the lights. The stock wiring causes voltage drop. Users with the harness and higher wattage bulbs or bulbs like the Silverstars (white lights) post excellent results.
About the fogs...I do not have the factory fogs. I put on Hella 550 in place of the tow hooks. I know others here have upgraded their bulbs on the factory fogs, though.

Hi Scott, I switch mine over to 100/80 plasma`s( got them off of Ebay too)I did do some damage only because I run a hot box with mine(the dims stay on with highs)I didn`t like the blue, thought they made everything fuzzy, not clearer. I yanked them an put in a new set of APC`s projection lights, WOW what a differance. I also run the SUV lite harness, now getting 14.4 volts to the lights instead of the 12.2 from the stock harness. I run 50w backups and 50w tails. No sign of any problems in the stock wiring. I got the backups from StylinConcepts( #20107 $19.95 apair)I don`t remember where I got the tails. The guys over at The DieselStop.com have been useing SilverStars 9005 ST`s. They are 65w, and havn`t heard of any problems yet. I got a set of stock fogs off of Ebay and just put in 65w in them. Going to make my own HD harness. Hope this helps.

I forgot to write about the White Knights ,they are great . Floods the whole area behind you. I picked up power to run them off of the trailer hookup. Well worth the money.

Your standard 65 watt bulbs draw 5.42 amps and the 100 watt bulbs will draw 8.33 Amps so the difference is 2.91 Amps per bulb. 16 Ga wire will support about 30 amps in open air.
IE: not wraped up in a wire bundle.
So, assuming you only have 2 bulbs your only drawing 16.66 Amps which should still be within reason also assuming that you have 16 Ga wire.
These numbers assume a 12 Volt system, your charging system runs around 14 Volts.
so the real result is about 7.14 Amps /bulb. But best to assume the worst case.
Ok.. I confess... I'm too lazy to look up the x's real wire gage.
Dave.
