I have been watching this too before I spens a bunch more money. So afrthe firstthing that I did was to talk to my mech at the dealer, he is a close friend. What we did was to remove the front rubber stops and cut them shorter on the band saw. This sounds drastic, but the bumbers seam to bottom out very easily, and there was only about 3/4" betwenn the rubber bumber and the frame. We remove one section or waffer from the bottom, which was obout 1" of material this has helped.
Second I have just installed the ranchos 9002 adjustable all around.
This has made a big, big difference in the ride. I think between the rear sway bar, the shocks and the bumber mod I will be please and not needto change the leaf springs. My total costhas been less than 500.00 bucks. ( I did putthe dash controleer in for the shocks) One more thing, Sams Off Road in Tulsa OK sold me the shocks over the net buy three get one free and free shipping.Thanks to others on this site for finding the best price.

The newer excursion's(02,03) have smaller axle bump stops. I don't know the price but a call to the dealer is cheap too!!! I replaced the front springs with "V" code springs and gained almost two full inches of travel at the bump stops, 2 1/2 inches on one side and 2 3/4 inches on the other side! As for the cost I looked around and asked around and got the "V" codes for $100, The rear springs were added 1 leaf and total price including springs was $400 for all four. Shocks were $320 for 4 rancho 9000x's and one rancho steering stabilzer(5404)! I spent $720 bucks for a 2 inch lift installed,with shocks. I think that was pretty d@mn cheap.

For the record, it is not my chart. (if you are referring to [i]me[/i], ((Ken)) Not that I wouldn't be proud of the work that went into it. The chart is courtesy of Bruce1954 who hangs out over at the dieselstop's Excursion forum.
The height changes are for the front only. Changing the rear springs to F250/350 springs hasn't really ever been discussed to any length. I, for one, wouldn't mind swapping all four corners one day.
