wow... cut INTO the frame and welded? Not sure how mine attaches to the frame, but I will check. That seems unstoppable if it were welded into the frame! i like it!

An update. For anyone that's interested, Pull-Rite now makes a aftermarket receiver and hitch combination for 00-04 X that's rated 20,000# Gross Weight and 2,000# Tongue Weight. I just thought some of you heavy haulers out there might like to know there's a heavy DOCUMENTED alternative to the factory receiver. |

I was just checking on the Pull-Rite the other day. It seemed just what I wanted.. BUT..... if you wish to pull without a Weight distributing hitch, the damn thing has a max limit of 350/3500lbs as a bumper pull. Less than my bumper!! I would use the bumper, but it is just too high. Either class. And you have to bolt on a blocker plate to lock the bar in the aft position. When I read that, it just turned me off.
Read about it in the Users manual: http://www.pullrite.com/pdfs/PullRiteOwnerManual.pdf
I don't only pull a travel trailer, but a boat at about 5000lbs, and a enclosed utility traile rated for 7,500.
That killed it for me. But, hey if all you tow is a WD trailer, it is a GREAT hitch |
