What type(Brand) gas and octane do you find the best in your V10 Engine for performance, mileage and power? I read somewhere not to use hi Octane? Any comments?

The manual calls for 87 octane, so thats what I use. I've never used any other grade. The octane issue has been discussed here a few times before. The general consensus is to use 87 and no higher. There are a few who use the other grades and have good things to report.

I forgot to say that I fill up at the local Sams Club station. They usually have the best price. I have no idea what brand Sams uses, but it makes the X go.

Likewise, I use Costco gas because it's less expensive than anyplace else and it seems to perform as well, if not better, than any other.

I usually use Exxon or Mobile 87 and I've had no problems so far. Knock on wood. |

Use 87 in my V-10, Exxon or BP, that seems to do ok!!

Yeah, I use 87 octane, too. I've read that using something higher is usually just a waste of money. Although, I typically go to Shell to gas up. I do this because their low grade gas is 89 octane and it's the same price as everyone else's 87 (at least it is at my local Shell).
I've read the the higher octanes are needed by the performance engines in order to avoid knocking (among other things, too).

If your timing isn't advanced to take advantage of higher octane fuels, then it is pointless to fill up with higher octane when 87 octane will do. Since you can get 89 octane at the same price as 87, then you're fine. There's no reason to spend the extra $$$ on the premium if you don't have a chip installed that has advanced the timing on your X.
