I had read on one of the older forums about replacing the lift rods with the exploer's rods for a little more height?
I am not sure of the details, can someone help me here?

The rods are from a 4 x 2 excursion. They give you about 2 inches of extra lift!

Part #' are YC3Z-78406A10-AA

Order 2 for the back hatch!

They are easy to change, less than 5 mins. But, support the hatch, or you are going to need some Tylenol!

OK, I thought I was pretty talented. I thought I could do it with one hand, wrong! Anyway,I think I paid $21.00 apiece from ford. Took over a month to get them. Ford was have a labor dispute at the new wharehouse. You can also get them at AutoZone, Pep Boys, Just about any parts dealer. Can`t beleive I admited it.

I got mine in 1.5 weeks from ford. The prices is pretty much what everybody else has paid. As far as installation, I haven't done mine yet, and I'm glad I see what pain you all have experienced so I don't go down that road (I hope). I just gotta find the time. Even five minutes has been hard to get lately.

Thanks for the advice on the weight of the hatch. What was the best way you found to support it????

Also, this should be an item on the FAQ or Tips section on the fordexcursions.com site. How do those items get there?

Andy

The hatch isn`t that heavy, just don`t rely on one strut to support it Just need a tall stik, or better yet another set of hands
