Hi, all.
I just picked up my 2000 diesel 4x4 excursion yesterday. Bought it in Tulsa and drove it straight home for 14 hours.
Drove it to work today and it seemed fine. This evening I noticed the dome lights and courtesy lights would not shut off. Went around to all the doors multiple times and tried to make sure they were all closed.
Tried and tried but couldn't get the lights to go off. Finally had to pull the fuse.
My question is this:
I know the majority of the door lock actuators are failing. But if the actuators fail does that trip the "door ajar" light?
If not any suggestions on what does trip that darn light?
One last question unrelated to the door actuators:
What controls the intermittent wipers? If intermittent wipers are not functioning properly (turn on slowest setting, the wiper moves up 1/3 of the windshield and stops, it cycles again and it goes all the way up to the fully vertical position and stops, then cycles again and moves down a few inches and stops again. Regular wiper positions work fine but don't complete the cycle when you shut it off.
I figured this part of the controller was part of the motor and mentioned to the dealer that this needs to be replaced. Can anyone confirm this?
Sorry for the simple questions but I need to address these issues quickly so the dealer I bought this from can resolve them. I am planning on getting a shop manual soon.
Thanks in advance for all the help

OK. Regarding my previous post

Went about this all wrong as I desperately needed to get this resolved and was running on little sleep from the night before. Pulling the fuse will have to do for now until I replace the switches.
After spending some time going though all the posts I see that the "door ajar" is a completely seperate issue than the "door lock actuator" issue.
Looks like I should replace both at the same time while I am in there.
Still have a question up for the wiper motor though.
Thanks!

Hi
I went through a similiar problem and the fix was Spray white lithium grease liberlly down inside door latches and open and close doors at least 4-5 times after spraying and your problem should go away |
