Ford did some work on my driveline and I think they may have put my driveshaft in backwards. The rubber boot is to the rear of the truck and it seems like I remember that it was toward the front (near the transfer case) of the truck when I took it in. Can anyone look at their driveshaft and let me know?
Thanks....Brian

Thats cute.
Well. Tinkerbelle's rear shaft has the skinny shaft to the front and the fat shaft to the rear. That is to say, that the rubber part is toward the front. And all the shafts in the book go the same way.
One other thing. The book says that the BOLTS and the RETAINERS get replaced after the THIRD REMOVAL of the shaft.
And as an aside, they should have put an index mark on the shaft at the axle flange. same at the front. If not, there is a 50% chance of driveshaft rumble depending on which way they reinstalled it
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, A couple of questions.
1.) What are retainers?
2.) Do you know what to torque the bolts on the driveshaft?

The retainers are the little pieces that hold the universal joint to the flange via the two bolts.
The axle end of the driveshaft is 35Nm (26 lb/ft)
The transfercase end of the dirve shaft is 102Nm (76 lb/ft)
If you have a two piece rear axle, the center bearing support is 63Nm (47 lb/ft).
Sorry for the late reply.
