I drove my wifes 03 Ex the other day, and realized the front hubs weren't engaging. Any fuses or simple things to look at before it has to be brought to the dealer? My transfer case does 'clunk', and I don't seem to have vacuum problems with my heating system-or at least haven't noticed any. It works fine if I manually lock the hubs

Nothing really simple.

I know I could give you a few things to look at but since it is brand new, I'd just take it in. That's really what you'll end up doing anyway...

Too bad...should be an easy fix though.

I did take it in this morning, and they just called to say the actuator control needed to be replaced. Should be here overnight. Thanks

I have a similar problem and I also have noticed a problem with my heater controles as well. yesterday it got stuck in the windshield defroster position and would not budge.

Seems to be temperature related.. my hubs begin engaging again when the temp goes above zero C. I just locked them in manualy today.. totaly discusting problem.

I liked my bronco better even if I did have to get out to lock them in.

Dave, I got my X back. A broken vacuum "tee" on the actuator, as well they replaced my left front hub. Seems it was not holding the vacuum. Seems to work now. We'll be watching it for awhile.

Thats great.
I called my dealer and they launched into a blurb that eventualy pointed out that I have to pay a $100.00 deductable on my waranty so I will be searching this one out myself.
Good thing I bought all the service manuals when I bought the truck.

I just finished checking out the solenoid for the hubs and electricaly it is ok.
much more to play with yet though. Looks like some kind of vacume problem. I am wondering if the vacume motor (its a diesel) is running intermitant or something.

My outlet control is quite eratic and I acutaly managed to get the hubs locked in once but that was it and then the outlet went to defrost again. sheesh..

Oh how I wish I had a nice warm garage to play in.
Dave.
