Well, picked up my new 2004 Excursion Limted 4x4 6.0l wed, No problems thus far. It has been a real joy to drive. I have a few questions that I would like to post for you all.

1.Is it true the 2wd excursions have longer travel (opens taller) rear cargo door "pumps"

2.I have the factory dvd/tv and 6disc cdplayer in dash, can i listen to a cd without the dvd playing thru the whole system when a dvd is being played?

3.Mine has the quad buckets seats; who has the best carpted mats? catch all doestnt make em for the quad seats and i also would like a full mat for the back (not just behind the 3rd seat.)

4.Is there a "cool down" time on the diesel engines I should now about?

Thanks for the info

Yes...I have 4X2 excursion rear hatch shocks. They lift the rear hatch up about 2 inches higher since the all tend to sit lower. 4X4 shocks do not cause the trucks are higher than the 4X2 models. Plus Ford did not want us to break the hatch glass in garages.

Ben,
Post up a picture when you get a chance and show us the new X. Check out our "NEW" logs in your account area. You can keep track of everything your X has had done to it and your personal "mods" too.

Are these a dealer only item or can I find them at the local parts store (auto zone/ advanced)?

Q2.I have the factory dvd/tv and 6disc cdplayer in dash, can i listen to a cd without the dvd playing thru the whole system when a dvd is being played?

A2: You bet, Your X should have rear controls in the second row. To turn on the rear seat controls, press the memory preset controls 3 and 5 at the same time on the front controll. The headphone icon will appear in the radio display. Pressing 3 and 5 at the same time again will turn the rear seat controls off. If there is a discrepancy between the rear seat and the front audio controls, (i.e, both trying to listen to the same playing media), the front audio system will receive the desired selection.

The second row controls will let you listen to anything(radio, 6disc and DVD) provided the front radio is not on the same setting. example, the front radio can play a CD from the 6disc while the people in the second row use headphones and watch a DVD. Take a look in your trucks user guide for step by step instructions.

Q3.Mine has the quad buckets seats; who has the best carpted mats? catch all doestnt make em for the quad seats and i also would like a full mat for the back (not just behind the 3rd seat.)

A3:Not sure, I tried Husky and a couple others companies with no success. Try asking the guys in the part department for help at Ford.

Q4.Is there a "cool down" time on the diesel engines I should now about?

A4: After runnings your PSD a while it's a good idea to let it idle for a few minutes before shutting it off. You can install a turbo cool down unit that will idle the truck to keep air flow across the turbo so it can cool down and not fry the bearrings.

You do not to need to install this device is you can wait a few minutes to idle. Save you money for other mods

You can buy a device that does this at: http://www.dieselpage.com/iss32.htm
It will wait until the turbo is below 300F before shutting the truck off. Cost around $200.US

Cheers
