Hey Y'all !
We've had our X for 3 weeks now - what a great truck ! Took it to Vegas and It was so great being able to seat 8.
The trip also convinced my wife that we need some suspension help. Looking for some comfort here, along with a little more stability.
Here's the list of mods I'm planning ( culled from this forum ). Please let me know if I'm on the right track.
1: SHOCKS !!! Probably Rancho 9000x - found them online for $279/set
2: Helwig rear sway bar ( does it matter only doing the rear ? )
3: LANDYOT radius rods - No questions here except Gen I or Gen II
4: trailer brake controller - I'm totally new to trailering and I want to rent for a LONG time before buying. I know I'll need a controller. My X has the factory hitch and wiring. I don't need the best and money isn't really an issue here. I really want the easiest install, fewest "issues", most compatability and easiest service when things go wrong. Any help here is greatly appreciated
Thanks a lot and I look forward to participating in this forum more. If any of you need help with Alfa Romeo's let me know !!!
Thanks,
Dan |

Dan - First, welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase (I was in Vegas a few weeks ago with mine). Second, if you haven't already contacted me and received the "radius-rod info-pack," then click on my username, send me an e-mail, and I'll reply with a ton of info. In regards to GEN-I vs. GEN-II, let me offer the following; 1) I see your X is a 2002-model, so you CAN use either version (I can't tell if it's 2WD or 4WD, but that doesn't matter at this point), and; 2) If you think that you might someday install an air-bag suspension assist system (for towing), then I would recommend the GEN-I kit (the GEN-II will not work with air-bags). The GEN-I kit is less expensive, and a little easier to install, too. Some folks opt for the GEN-II kit simply because its rod-arm is parallel with the leaf springs ... it "looks" better ... but both kits perform equally, and neither has any real mechanical advantage over the other. If anything, the GEN-I kit has a slight advantage BECAUSE it is angled. I hope this helps. Ken E.
PS - FYI, I am also running the Hellwig rear anti-swaybar, Rancho RSX9000's, and Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller. No problems with any of them. |

Tekonsha Prodigy has my vote, as well. There is no other
