Hello all.

The airconditioning quit on the EX today so I dug out the books and did the troubleshooting as far as i could take it.
All indications are that either the pressure switch is dead or the system pressure is low. I don't have any fancy manifolds with pressure gages and all that nice stuff to go any further. Has anyone else had problems and if so, what was the final diagnosis.?

Can the pressure switch be removedand replaced without dumping the system pressure? Yeah, you guessed it, I don't know squat about air-conditioning.

Dave,
Sorry to hear your air died. I have no words that can help, short of the obvious, take it in the the Ford service center. If my memory serves me correct you have a white EB 2004, just like mine. It should be still under warranty.

I just got back from the TO area and it's hot 31C I last checked....Good luck.

Sorry I could provide a better answer.

If it helps, winter only 3 months away. .....How's your heater working?

Cheers

Dave,
After a little dig I found something that might explain what you seeing. Please read below:

2004 F-Series/Excursion Lack of A/C Cooling:
Trucks built between 12-1-03 to 1-26-04 may have strands of insulation trapped between the compressor and refrigerant line manifold. The system will need to be recovered and the the insulation removed from the joint. The tube and manifold assembly (4C3Z-19D850-CA) may be reused if it is undamaged, but the o-rings (1F1Z-19E889-AB) should be replaced. Broadcast Message 1118.

If you truck fits between the above date this may be a good place for the garage to start.

Cheers

The Ex is a PSD 2000 Ltd.

I did the fault finding procedure acording to the manual so I'm fairly sure I'm on the right track. And yes winter is comming and so I will have some time to save up before spring so I can afford to take it in to the dealer.

I guess i should have added that the air is totaly dead. Its because the compressor clutch is not kicking in. Most likely because either the system pressure switch is dead or the system pressure is low. Either way. I'm pootched.

Dave,
Is your truck a dark blue limited? If so, I know the garage it came from and maybe able to get you some details on it's history.

Let me know.
