but here goes. I you are looking at the back of the X down at the trailer plug, on left the side is another 2-prong plug. What the hell is that for???? I can not seem to locate the answr in the manual and HAVE done a few seached with no luck. Since I don't know what it is for I'm probably not using the correct search word, kinda like looking a word up in the dictionary you don'y know how to spell. Well, thanks for the time everyone.

Did you buy your X used? If so, a previous owner may have added two wires worth of circuitry for whatever was loaded or installed in/on a trailer he was towing. Could be wiring to charge another battery in a trailer, or he had some other electrical accessory(ies). In the past, I've used the center pin of the 7-pin Bargman connector for making reverse lights operate on a trailer. You may have to crawl underneath and see where the souce is for that 2-pin connector. Good luck!

BTW ... There's no such thing as a stupid question.

, not what I was hoping to read. Thank-You very much though. Yes, the X I purchased was pre-owned. Guess I'll have to crawl under there and see whats going on. Maybe I'll snap a pic of it and post along with anything I may find. Just get a little nervous when the electrical system gets monkeyed without your knowledge, cause you never may know how or why it was done. K, let me get back to ya'll later.

My guess is that it was used to power an accessory on a trailer such as a winch. Might want to take a multimeter to it to see if it's hot or not.

OK, took a couple pics of this thing, check my profile. It appears to have been installed so well it looks factoy. It has a rather good size red wire, covered with that factory ribbed plastic, running to the front (which is where I lose it) of the X via the passenger-side with rest of the factory items (fuel line, fuel return line, etc.). It is well grounded right near the plug itself. A test light indicated it is not hot with ignition on or off nor with headlights off or on. The pics tell the rest. The plug does not seems to creating any problems other than bothering me as to what the hell it's there for. The receiver upon purchase did not seemed to have ever been used, clean inside. Again, thanks for all the help.

The socket appears to be a trailer-type connection, but I've never seen one with just 2 pins. Looked at the pix. Is that a Lund visor atop your windshield with integral clearance lights? I can't tell if it's the old square-style or the newer rounded-style. How do you like it? I'm still contemplating getting a Ford lighted visor, but it's expensive ... probably around $700 + painting. The down-side of the Ford visor is it does not vent the air underneath the visor ... air must go around. One F350 owner told me that it doesn't make any wind-noise.

Landyot, yes that is Lund visor but I am not sure if it is the square one or the newer one you speak of. The lights are "built-in" in and it has the air vents. Don't about wind noise for I never drove the X without it. It does not seem to make any notable noise for I have driven with the windows down. Gonna wash the truck within the next few days, I'll see if I can locate a PN for ya and get back to you. I really need to take some photos of the X, it came with tons of goodies. Let's just say the prior owner spent some $ on aftermarket parts.

I appreciaite the gesture, but you do not have to locate a PN for me. Both Lund styles (squared & rounded, and both of those are available lighted & bare) are readily available from multiple sources. I had a bare one on my ol' F350. What I liked about it best was it kept the frost at a level at which I could still look over it ... also helped to keep some snow off, too (especially when I went to the ski resorts). I'm still leaning towards the Ford visor because the lights are much more pronounced. Thanx again!

Yeah, Scott! That's the one. I forget the exact prices I was quoted by my parts guy, but I was able to get the part numbers for both the visor and its mounting gasket. I do remember the gasket alone was close to $200 ... and the visor only comes in black.
