I have a 2000 X and the seat just stopped working. I can move it up and down but not forward or back. Questions is...is it a switch challenge or a motor challenge?
any ideas?

WELCOME
I think from the little info you posted i would get a test light and see if the moter and or switch is getting power. If no test light you can get one at Auto Zone for a couple of bucks. The forward and reverse moter is right under the seat on the right side of the drivers seat.

Another idea would be to take a look at the wiring plugs located behind the seat, viewed from the 2nd row. I find alot of people kick the plugs and cause faults to happens.......bad design by Ford in my opinion.
Cheers

Yes
I was under the seat today with my son rocking it and we found a nut loose on the slide part of the right side rail. I will tighten it tomorrow as it was getting dark quick.

There must be some type of adjustment as well....
when I first got my truck the seat felt like it "shifted" just a bit fore and aft...
they tightened something and then it would be hard for the motor to move it - like it was binding....
one more trip and they got it just right

ok....I have narrowed it down to the switch itself. I know this cuz I can jiggle the switch itself and make it move ever so slightly sometimes.
Question: How do I get the swich cover off. I see the screws holding it on but the knob for my lumbar support and the handle for moving my seatback is in the way and I dont see how they come loose.
Thanks
