Oh...this thread turned into a different subject. I was going to tell you all to not fret too much about your prices. You could live here where diesel is $2.75 a gallon and regualr gas is $2.39.

What I don't understand is that if you get more diesel out of a barrel of crude than you do gasoline, how come they're screwing us with higher prices on diesel when gas should cost more to manufacture?

I hear ya, diesel is the least refined and it costs more.......Makes zero sense?!?!

I guess one could say "more BTUs in diesel"...."therefore more money" .......

Ken, sorry for the thread tangent. When your government takes 1/2 your money on payday and taxes your taxes with taxes you get a little crazy.

Diesel is the direct competition for home heating oil as they ae both "taken off the top" (least refined)...
and with winter coming up, they've diverted production to heating oil...
(much as us guys in the south that USE diesel and not heating oil hate it !!!!!! )

I u nderstand that part, but the price of diesel sure didn't fall last spring. It went up about 18 months ago and has stayed up. I think they're figuring out that more folks are buying diesel. Since they'll sell less fuel since diesels are more efficient, they're making it up by charging more. The "price per BTU," if you will.
