Do you have a brown wire on your brake control pigtail that is not being used?
I purchased a Draw-Tight brake controller and have the factory pigtail for hookup. The Pigtail has 5 wires and the brake contoller has 4 wires. The Excursion owners manual has nothing about connecting the pigtail and the installation instructions from Draw-Tight refer me to the vehicle owners manual! Thru a search of the internet I finally came across a guide that decoded the wires(DO NOT MATCH COLORS). But one wire, the brown pigtail wire, is listed as NA. So, does that mean the brown wire is capped off? |

You do not need the brown wire. It is for illumination.

Take a closer look at that wire, is it brown or brown and white stripe?
The excursion trailer/camper adapter is wired as follows.
pin 1 is yellow (YE) and is left turn input
pin 2 is white (WH) and is ground
pin 3 is dark blue (DB) and is electronic brake
pin 4 is dark green (DG) and is right turn input
pin 5 is orange (OG) and is battery B+ (charging ckt)
pin 6 is brown/white (BN/WH) and is B+ Park or head ( running lights)
pin 7 is Black/Light Green (BK/LG)and is Reversing lamp input (back up lights)
Hope this helps.
