I've read that putting a new chip in your X will change your shift points.
But does anyone know of a way to simply reprogram your shift points without installing a new chip?
Seems to me we could control our fuel consumption a little more if we could control shift points.

I' wouldn't mind to know if there was a programmer out there that would be shift point select capable.
I've already told the wifey if I get a good enough return next year I may go purchase a used X and do a 4r100 to 6 speed stick swap. It may cost a few bucks tho

I have a Factory Tech valve body that I need to install. I will report everything i get from new valve body. I know the quicker shifts will reduce heat and might increase mileage. I am installing it Friday night i think??
Been real busy lately with the bathroom remodeling Almost done though

I wish I could help you, but I have never seen a chip or programmer that would allow shift points to be manually adjusted. From my experience, I would really hesitate adjusting shift points. I had a buddy that had to replace his transmission (warranty voided) due to a chip. It overheated the tranny... and it was a 2003 with LOW miles. Good luck, but I would avoid chips all together.

Okay, now I better understand what you are wanting to do.
But no, I have not seen anything like that other than manually moving the column shifter.... but that's far from effective.

Yes. I think this would be the only way to really accomplish what I would like to do.
Would be nice but looks like it ain't gonna happen.
Thanks.

Yes you can do exactly what you want to do with shift points. I use a Hypertech reprogrammer. You can choose (or not choose) several options including shift points. I pushed mine to 93 octane with the reprogrammer--I'm guessing it gets about 30+ more hp. Mileage a bit better but you know how that is.... It's about $250. Can get on internet. You do have to remember to offload the program before ANY diagnostics such as your dealer or OBDII might do. It will reset to factory defaults and you will have lost the program. I have been well pleased. Good Luck!! |
