I see and hear about a lot of people getting rid of their old lifts and going bigger. What do you do with your old lifts? I'm looking for a 6" for my X and don't feel like paying out the nose if I don't have to. I see lots of folks selling their old kits for F-150's but none for the SD or X. Anyone have any idea where these are going?
Every now and again you will see someone selling a complete lift. MaxDuty recently had his fabtech 8" lift for sale. Many times additional lift can be attained without getting new springs. For instance I still have my fabtech 5.5" springs from my original lift on the truck. First I added a 3" body lift to make 8.5" of lift and now the addition of a 4.5" hangers in the front gives me 13" of lift in the front. I did remove the fabtech springs in the rear and get new atlas 12" springs. But I could have kept them and just added bigger blocks or a shackle flip.
I have the rear fabtech springs and 6 fabtech shocks from my original fabtech lift. I will probably hang on to the rear springs for at least a while in case I would need to bring it down for some reason. I think others may also hang on to their original lifts for the same reasons.
You might want to keep an eye out on ebay. I've seen used lift kits on there many times.
