This was a heated topic awhile back. Joe is completely right. just go to there website and check the part #`s. A 4" SD lift (springs) will raise the X 6" because the stock X starts 2" lower then a Stock SD.
Go with(If you have to)ProCrap 4" SD kit if your going to run 315`s (35`s). You will wind up with 5-1/2 "in a month or two ( their springs are going to sag or even break down ).
I`ve got a 3" body and 2 1/2" leveling kit (5 1/2") run 35`s and I rub on the springs alittle, but alot offroad.

I installed V code F-250 springs and gained two inches of lift. Ford designed the X with reverse arched springs for a softer "soccer mom" ride. Now, if you do youcheck the numbers you will see that all mfg are listing 4 in and 6 in lifts for the X and look real hard the 6 in is a 4 in SD lift.
A SD sits 2 in higher than a stock X then add a four inch lift for a SD and your at 6 inches of lift.
I now run F-350 X code (snow plow) springs with a EDGE 2 in mini spring pack and I have almost 5 1/2 inches of lift and run 305/70/16 with NO rubbing. I am going to replace my front and rear springs with BDS 6 inch springs in the late winter months and run either a 315/75/16 (35/12.50)or a 325/70/16(35/14.50).

You see, THIS is why I love this site! I have writen orders for years, but never once noticed the part numbers are the same for a 4inch SD and a 6inch X. It all makes sense now.
Thanks for setting me straight!
Well, with that said, let me ask a question....
If they are similar, which one would you install for someone wanting FOUR inches of lift on an Excursion? a 2inch SD or a 4inch X lift?

Well, to start, I woudn`t use Pro Crap. I`ve seen alot of unhappy campers. I would use DR or Fab Tech hanger system with the stock springs if they would like to keep the same ride and if I won the lottery. I would have a custom 4link airbag system made so I could adjust the ride to what I want.

| Quote: | Joe, I own a 4wd company and have never heard these figures before. I really have no clue what you're talking about... despite 6 years in the 4wd business with ProComp (ProCrap) experience.
Where are you getting these figures that a Superduty lift on an Excursion will be 2" higher than advertised? |
Congrats on your ownership in a 4x4 company...
I must be having a really hard time speaking english these days, or maybe its just that I cant get my very simple point across;
PER A PROCOMP TECH;
The same year SD sits 2 inches higher than its X counterpart.
When ordering a liftkit from PC, your 4" lift (for the SD) would raise the X a total of 6"
Is that really such a hard concept to master?
Look, Im not cool by owning my own shop, nor do I work for ProComp...Im going by what their techs have told me....Dont belive me? call them @ 1-800-284-9840
You can talk to tech # 5705. His name is Vern and can confirm all of this.
*Note-
I would think that someone would know this, having worked with ProCrap (as you call them) for so many years. Or maybe you call them ProCrap because you have a limited understanding of their products at best.
Have a great day.

wow, this got heated real quick, I have heard that PC is a good lift, but I have heard that they ride real rough, now the Fabtech (I have one for my 4X2) is a great lift and I have heard nothing but great things about the ride and ease of instalation. Mine went on very easy and the ride is fantastic, way better then the stock ride and the travel on the suspension is great. so pick carefuly and use you head, good luck!
It really is all about size!!!!!! |

Wow.... I was catching up on my forum reading tonight and I realized that Joe's RUDE comments were aimed at me! WOW... Where was I?
Hmmm...... allow me to jump in.
Joe, please do me the greatest favor.......I would really like for you to go back and read every thread of this post. By doing this, you will see that the everyone's conversation was nice, peaceful, and informative (In fact, I think that's why we all are members here is to SHARE information).
By re-reading this thread, you will notice that out of nowhere, you jump in with...... well, what really seems to be anger! Um, why?
That's what confused me. I was curious about this new information because I am about to install a lift on my new Excursion. We are all here to learn and share information without irrate opinions and rude comments.... (that's the wonderful thing that separates this forum from other forums).
I guess in a perfect world, it would be just fine and dandy for me to make a tiny comment that I hadn't realized the similarities in the part numbers, without some random person becoming so personally, and intimately offended. I guess in that, you should not carry around so much ProComp sensitivity.
Let me warn you, Joe. I am about to talk about ProComp, so be sitting for this......
I call them ProCrap (so sorry Joe) because I receive MORE complaints about them than ANY other company.......which is why I choose NOT to sell them (even though I still have full access to dealer discounts). Instead, I recommend other manufacturers that I have NEVER had a return or complaint. Does that make me "cool"? ....Um... not sure Joe, (I really didn't understand your point in that).
I hope you get a chance to re-read this entire thread (especially my post THANKING people with this advice)... you will see that you were out of line.
Attention MODERATOR........ please keep an eye on these types of irrate and rude posts so we do not become one of those other forums that do nothing but fight, argue, and make insults.... THANKS!
