I'll be ordering an '05 X in the spring but would really like to get satellite radio (probably Sirius) before then. I'm not crazy about the large interface taking up so much dash space and would much rather have it integrated.

Questions:

1. Does the '05 come pre-programmed for either XM or Sirius from the factory?

2. Would it be better to change out the head unit to an aftermarket version that already has Sirius built in?

3. Do many aftermarket head units have satellite built in?

TIA

I have XM in my rig, and I love it, my head unit is a Pioneer and its the tuner for the XM box, the box is 2" X1'X1' amd the antenna is for my mirror, but as for the prewired? hhmmm I think GM is the ones doing that. there are are sending units that send the sound through your current stereo, but the local stations get in the way (I think) unless they have come out with some that are better, look at bust buy and Curcit City., and I highly recomend XM over Sirrus. IMHO

It really is all about size!!!!!!

The XM ready receivers are affordable, the Pioneers and Alpines are sharp and sound great
I second the XM motion from Brian also If you're into Music XM is the only choice,if you're into talk, news, sports then Siri is the one.
Here's a PHOTO of our XM receiver installed in the Excursion,it doesn't block the power point and is about as compact as they get
