CHP, it looks like you still have on your cross members for the basket to hook on to. Are these just used when you put on the basket and then removed when finished? That is a nice looking basket. I may have to get one when my family and our friends family go down to Los Angelas and we have to pack 6 or 7 suitcases with us. |

Thule also makes a standard black square bar that fit very well in to the X's OME tracks. It's nice because you can add as many bars as needed. I hauled a 20ft A-frame latter on the X no sweat.
It's not pretty but it much better then stock. Easy easy to install and they lock in place via a key.
I will post a pic if anyone would like.

The Safari basket gives the X an Outback sorta look,I like it also

Actually my cross members are sitting in the garage it's the roof tracs that are still bolted into the roof,you can safely mount the basket directly to a pair of the stock cross members with enough clearance to avoid touching the roof paint or you could mount the basket to a Thule rack but that'll raise the basket height by like 6" give or take.

It is a very nice Excursion, however your kids are right, you should raise it more, you should put some big 'ol tires on that thing. |
