I will be ordering a new X this spring and want to hear opinions on the 2nd row buckets.
We will be loaded with 4 guys going to the racetrack and having the buckets makes it real nice when you want to recline and take a snooze in the back seat. I like it better since it doesn't interfere at all with the seat next to you, and the armrest can still be utilized by itself when reclining. I realize the bench reclines but it doesn't operate as independently as I'd like.
Also I am looking at the XLT, but it isn't offered with the 2nd row buckets. I understand a loaded up XLT is as much as more than an Eddie Bauer or Ltd.

The back buckets aren't near the same seat aas the front, but it does afford the functionality I required....
knew I wanted the bukctets from previous X and vans...
one thing I am looking into is sliders for the rear seat AND the back buckets to allow for more legroom when not using the rear cargo area....

John,
I have thought that sliders would be a great option for the rear buckets, but wouldn't they have to slide on an angle? From what I can see the seat would interfere with the interior trim and/or the "step" in the floor.
I've also thought that removing the 2nd row seats and using the 3rd row only would make for a nice setup to relax on long trips. Just put some duffel bags etc. on the floor and stretch your legs out straight.
It's disappointing that the rear seats in the X have such little legroom for such a big vehicle. And that's regardless of a bench or bucket configuration. |

Having done all this back in the hippy-dippy days to my shag carpeted van.....
just thought I could find some of those $15 sliders and try it if only to get a few more inches of leg room for my passengers !!!!
I keep forgetting about it because I never sit back there, but it is on one of these To Do list somehwere...

I like my my 2nd row buckets, because it prevents my kids from touching each other and having a big fight ensue causing me to try to whack them and swerving off the road and crashing . |

Mine is an 00 and we made some custom brackets for the second row seats then I ordered E-350 leather seats for them. They have twice the leg room.
