I just bought a 2001 ford excursion diesel limited. The only problem i have is that the door locks seem to stick on the drivers and drivers side door. They will lock with a push of the button but will not open. I can see that they are trying but just dont come all the way up. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Greg |

The lock actuators must be amoungst the most troublesome parts in some Excursions, maybe because they are part of the large run of them that are just plain bad. Not sure if they can be lubricated but could be possible.

I do agree that the actuators are pretty pathetic. My 2000 Ex had the same problems. It was rediculous to have to reach around from the rear door to pry up the drivers door lock. I doubt lubrication would help any. They are obviously very weak.
I definitely remember a post on this site that mentioned a good aftermarket actuator source. I would DEFINITELY use aftermarket actuators.

Lube the snot out of the latches. I have an 01 which one day deciced it was going to get pickey like yours. Someone on here suggested lubing the door latches. It may be voodoo but it worked for me. Won't hurt to try. Good Luck
