Ken,
You want to wash and wax it??? I have a step in the rear hitch and will be getting one that attaches to the tire to get up there. I want the 18" extension for the yak rak so it covers more area of the roof. Measured it and from the ground it is 7' 11 inches. With the new springs I am installing it will be at 8' even. Guess the kids will be walking into Burger King more often now...
Ken,
I am installing Superlift 5 inch lifted superduty rear springs in the next couple of weeks and hope to modify the rods to fit or will go hog wild and extend then about 3-4 feet and attach then to the frame.
I will take pictures when I get them tomorrow night and post them.

I have the Ford fiberglass rear wind foil or what ever its called and lost the hardware. Can anyone take some close ups so I can make or buy the hardware and install mine. I have only had it a year and it needs painted again from laying around in the shed.
Thanks

Birdman - You can get away with it as high as your rig sits. If you cannot bolt the frame-end through existing holes, do not drill any in the vertical "web" portion of the frame. You should be OK drilling holes in the lower flange portion, but make certain you "sandwich" that flange with a piece of steel opposite the mount. I've heard of a few ladder bar kits that did not provide a sandwich plate, and the bolts going through the frame-flange eventually worked the hole open until they finally were pulled through completely. Kind of spoils the day for your frame.
BTW, just in case you were thinking about it, do not weld any brackets to the frame. The longitudinal frame members are a higher grade of steel than your typical cold rolled mild-steel. Unless the area is properly pre-heated before welding, the weld itself will induce heat shock, and you'll have a very brittle joint ... let alone spoiling your frame. Again, another bad-frame day.
I hope you'll post some photos of this endeavor once you're finished. |

I am thinkiing of getting one of these deflectors. Do they help heep the back clean? My aftermarket guy says he installs it with that tape they use to install the side window deflectors. Any opinions?
Thanks Mark |

If you go back to the first page of this thread, you'll see where I said mine does nothing more than provide shade to the third brake-light. Installed with double-back tape? Whoo-ee! I bet he's seen a few of those fly through the air after awhile. The Ford unit bolts into position (you have to drill some small holes in the top of your liftgate). Bottom line - it does nothing to keep the rear glass clean. Sorry. |
