Well I saw an XLS for the first time in person this weekend and I think it's the best looking of all X's. The lower body cladding was the same color as the body and looked great.

My question is:

Can you easily paint these lower body claddings and how much would it cost?

* I need leather seats so I'll be ordering an XLT but will want to paint the dark grey cladding to match the body.

TIA

I don't see why not. They're painted now. Bear in mind that different paint formulas are used for plastics like the grille (hard plastic) and the cladding (soft plastic ... almost like bumper covers).

Yeah that's what I figured too.

I would hope the paint guy would know what formula paint to use.

Any idea on cost?

I have no idea on cost at all. Besides, it would vary widely from shop to shop. Pay the extra for a first class job. I learned about the "hard" plastic paint being different when I inquired at a paint supply store about some paint for my grille shell (it's chromed plastic). I really like the monochromatic look of the later X's. But if I paint the grille shell to match the bodywork, then I'll also need to sandblast the chrome off the bumpers and paint them, too. I would paint them the same as my cladding ... desert tan or whatever they call it ... harvest gold? If I'm lucky (?????) enough to have someone tap me in traffic, then straightening a bumper and painting it may be an option at that time ... when someone else's insurance is paying for a good portion of it.
