Just wanted to share my experience with powerstroke and maybe help undecided potential buyers on decision on : to diesel or not to diesel. I've been driving fords for the last 6 years (working for 911 ambulace) and I am telling you- these motors take alot of abuse and keep on surviving. Most amb. services keep them in 911 system till they hit 180K and then they go into nonemerget servises till they hit 250K mies , then they get sold to Mexico where they run in 911 service till they die.(as far as I know). Anyway, we run them on short trips all the time, pedal to the metal between stop signs, hard braking and still, they don't brake down as much as you think they should. Pre 2000 tranies would only survive till 50K miles, new ones however last lot longer. Happy hollyday, thank you for all your input. Yev. |

I agreed with your comments, the 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel (PSD) is a great engine. It's used in our safety vehicles, and many other delivery trucks. I heard the same things about the 4r100 tranny as well. The new tranny Torqushift or 5R100 in a a better tranny.. However like it's buddy the 6.0L PSD it's still the new kid on the Ford engine block. No pun intended.
Cheers
