I also posted at FTE..but figured I'd try here too.
Last night during the foglamp install I was scoping out where I would mount the various parts of my Hadley kit.
I am going to mount the airtank under the floor behind the wheel house.
I had panned on mounting the horns behind the grill and using some big fender washers so that the load is spread well on that plastic.
I also want to mount the compressor on the driver's inner fender, behind the power steering reservoir, but need to be able to get behind it to put nuts on.
Here's the question....if I remove the screws in the fender lip that retain the liner...is it possible to get my hand in there just to put the nuts on?
Or, is there a better place to mount this compressor? If possible,I'd like to stay on the driver's side as that will be closer to the tank.
Thanks!

I have seen a install where it looked like a battery tray was modified with L brackets and installed in a battery box to the drivers side frame beside the tank. Looked really cool and I would like to see the final install as I am thinking of doing the same.

Same here, I like to see the final install and parts list. I've seen some tankless style horns, but I'm not sure if they work. I might visit the local auto wrecker and see what I can find off a Peterbuilt

Okay...my Hadleys are in.
Here's what I did.
Mounted the airhorns on the grille support behind the grile on the passenger side facing center.
Routed the hoses and wires inside the grille support under power steering reservior to pass throughs.
Installed compressor behind power steering res on inner fender.
Tank was mounted on a custom 14 guage stainless bracket, underneath driver's seat area against a pinch in the body...no holes drilled.
Tapped yellow with green stripe wire behind fuse panel as "trigger".
I also placed an illuminated rocker switch to feed a relay to switch the horns on or off....instead of the toggle switch. |
