I was just looking through this months OFF Road Adventures mag from four wheel parts and saw one their advertisements for roof top carriers, two models, two different side heights, one under $200 and the other I believe under $250, both deffinately for our X's. Andy |

I bought a warrior products rack for my X and bolted it right on to the factory "bows". This worked well ran the Haul road up here 1500+ miles with some rubbermaid totes and fuel cans in it- No problem. . It was not right however and scratched up the top of the X a little. tracks and the rack If it has a weight limit I can usually exceed it . On our trip from Valdez a couple of months ago we drove through some 70 mph winds A gust hit us head on at highway speed and the "bows" slide in the tracks and the rack almost came off. I just bought the tk1 kit from Thule and attached the warrior rack much the way that the pic of the Yakima rack shows my basket is 80 inches long and as wide as the X. I put the totes in it and drove through some 80 mph wind on our last trip out of Valdez. It held I will try to get a pic up I have not figured that whole thing out yet. The tk1 kit and the bases are made for the factory rails. I am happy with them.
Here is a link to a pic of the first mounting that did not hold up-http://www.supermotors.org/mygarage/section.php?id=7283
I will get som pics of the current set up soon. |

Check out Surco Roof Racks. I`ve got my spare(35"x14.5 on a rock crawler rim) 136 lbs. a Hi lift jack , axe and shovel and lights on my X. Been running for a year now and the only problem I`ve had was to replace some of the rivets to larger ones but I`m also kinda beat my X. It`s my workhorse.
I`ve got pic`s in my gallery, but no real closeup`s.
