Larry,

I'm in Washington County, Peters Township to be more specific. Just 2 miles from the Canonsburg exit off I-79. The only area I am somewhat familiar with up your way is around the Wexford exit. My in laws live just off of RT 910.

I haven't spent a lot of time investigating mods, as I am between 1.5 and 2 years from doing anything due to the engine warranty. I know I'll start with the weak links first. Forged piston rods, because the powdered metal ones won't stand up to any serious upgrades, better TC and beefed up trans, for the same reason. Once those are done, I'll be deciding between Banks, chip, and propane, or some combination thereof. Wonder if I should think about changing gear ratios after that.

So many options, and too much time to think about them.

I would not consider rods until you get way into modding. There are literally hundreds of thousands of folks out there with powdred rods do the standard mild mods like exhaust, chip, intake...yadda-yadda.....and will never have issue with the rods. If your going to push into bigger injectors, cams, headwork, bigger turbo's......thats where your going to find that rods are needed. So just go and get yourself a programmer and if you need warranty work just reprogram back to stock and take it into the shop. Its not able to be seen by a dealer and if you use the tow safe program your going to add some serious power and yet be safe without having guages in it. My Father has a 7.3 with 90K miles on it and a Super-Chips programmer....he pulls a 12-13K lb trailer and has no guages...he runs the tow safe program and has never had a problem...and we pull the hills of Western PA and up thru Oil City/Titusville area. His truck has original tranny and never had an issue for the dealer to look at yet.....and the truck is a 99 so its 6 yrs of towing this trailer and at least half of the 90K miles from trailer pulling.

If you know Wexford..I live about 10 miles from there. Im on the west side of RT 19.
