Based on my experience with the 2WD, I would think you could get away with the tire and rim combo you want. You may have to go with a lower profile tire, but i have seen a number of 2WD Excursions with 20's or larger. I would contact your local aftermarket truck accessory store or a few tire retailers in your area to see if they have have done an X. I have a 6" lift on my two wheel drive and 305/70-16 tires so if you are good with numbers and can do the conversion, you should be able to figure out what will work with the stock set-up. When i was looking at tire and wheel combos, my local guy had some wheels he test fitted to see what would and would not work. Also, a quality tire shop could help you with converting the tire sizes to "real" numbers and advise you on fit. Good luck and keep us posted.
