ok CHP....
WAY brighter than mine...
Which wire did u connect them to ?
did u run all the way up to the battery for power and use a backup lamp as the switch trigger ?
or just splice into the backup lamp ?

I got the wiring from another Powerstroke owner to where he tied into the power from the reverse light circuit off the tranny and constant hot off the battery.
Using a single throw/double pole switch it'll operate in 3 ways;
1-Factory reverse lights on
2-Factory reverse lights on plus Auxiliary lights on
3-All Lights off

I forget which Auxiliary light package you have on your Excursion there John?

I put a relay in the back and used the battery on the 7 pin trailer plug.
I taped the reverse wire to one termial, ground to another, battery to another, and final output to the last termial on the relay. I wish i knew how to draw up a diagram on the pc gizmo

Have any of you guys thought about taking one from the RV owners and use a rear camera and moniter set-up. I saw a license plate frame with a camera. it was under 200.

but even "lectrical" challenged me understood it !!!

And just found my pigtail from the Ex's glove box with a wiring diagram of which is pin 7 !!!!

Now I need to go to Radio shack to get a relay....

Thanks a million !

I to have been looking into doing this.

PIAA makes a 1500 set of back up lights that look nice. They also now have a very compact rear foglight that uses LEDS. I am going to look into those as they contain as many as 10 LEDs, but since they are LEDs, you could probably just jump from the back-up light wiring...maybe even from the trailer plug. LEDs use very little power.

I just have to make sure that they would be bright enough. If memory serves me the PIAA # is19154.
