Has anyone lowered the rear of their "X"? Or should I say leveled. I know a lot of you like to lift and that's cool, but I like a leveled ride where the wheels pretty much fill the wheel wells. On my 4x4, there is what looks to be a 2 to 3 inch spacer with an arm off to one side that is below the bump stop????? I was thinking maybe I could take it out? Is this part on the 2 wheel drives because they appear to be lower and I like their looks. I don't have a mod project at the moment and I need something to work on.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that the 4x4 Excursions have the 2" block under the rear springs just like F250 4x4s. You could probably take it out, but then your front would likely be higher, so then you would have to lower the front somehow. I wonder if removing the block would affect the rear driveshaft angle and other drivetrain components in a negative way? I'm sure a .25" difference would not be bad, but what about 2"? The factory engineers designed it to work best in stock form. Perhaps if you got a full blown name-brand lowering kit it would not be a big deal.

Whew, I'm just rambling here. Time for bed.

Good luck.

Yea, I don't want to create a problem, so I was hoping maybe someone has tried this already. Thanks for the reply Rick. I'll give the post a few more days......Maybe someone out there knows if this can be done.
