I want to do the suspension upgrades often discussed here. I would like a complete list of parts that will create the effects and looks I want:
I want to improve the ride and driving dynamics of the X. An increase in height (2") is desirable but no more. I will be using as a daily driver during the week, but will be towing a 24' race trailer on the weekends (6-9K lb. range).
At this point I plan on doing the following:
Landyot Radius Rods
F-250 springs
Hellwig Swaybar
Upgraded shocks
Upgraded tires
Questions:
1. Which suspension components will accomplish my goals keeping the truck level and working together?
2. When doing the F-250 spings, do you modify the front leafs as well? If yes what?
3. When doing the F-250 spings, do you modify the rear leafs? If yes what?
4. At the end of the project I'd like to add slightly bigger tires. This would mostly be for aesthetics to fill out the wheel wells. I'd want a tire that wouldn't compromise my towing capabilities. Any recommendations?
A comprehensive list of parts that work as a package and do what I want would be great. I realize that for example in the shock category there might be various brands to choose from but listing your particular brand is fine.
At this point I plan on doing the following:
Landyot Radius Rods
F-250 springs
Hellwig Swaybar
Upgraded shocks
Upgraded tires
TIA

F-250 V code front springs/f-350 extra cab short bed 4 inch block

f-250 springs will replace you X springs

3. When doing the F-250 spings, do you modify the rear leafs? If yes what? | you can but the ride will suffer, replacing the 2 in block with a 4 incher is easier and keeps the factory ride

285/75/16 or 295/75/16 will fill up the wheel well

How much are the springs and the blocks for the F-250? What can you expect to be charged ( in terms of time and dollars) for someone to install them.
Will I need to order a different size shock once these are in place? |

Most standard shocks will work with a 2-inch lift. I haven't researched the spring-codes for the F250, but bear in mind that some F250s have LOWER axle weight ratings than the X at front and/or rear. I do not know if that's due to the springs or the axles.
I have no lift on mine, and I'm running 305-70R-16 Load Range "E" tires on 8-inch wide rims (stock are 7-inch wide). I get no rubbing except at full lock when hitting a a good size bump ... like when pulling into the parking garage at work ... and even then, it's just a front tire rubbing against the aft face of a front fenderwell splash panel. |

Thanks Landyot..
What about the lifts impact on anti-sway bars such as the Hellwig that seems to be popular. If I put the lift on a bit later this should be ok right? |

hello supercrew. i have a set of the 4" blocks from a 2003 f350 if you want them. i just did the install you are talking about. i used f350 front snow plow springs ( vcode) and the rear blocks from the same truck. the only thing about the blocks is that they are not tapered. some on here have said that you can get tapered blocks from an f 350 but i have not heard of it nor have any ford dealers been able to see them in the computer. when i had the blocks on i noticed no vibration at all. the reason i changed blocks is because i made my own from 1/4" plate steel with a taper to reduce the strain on the ujoint. up to you. if you decide to make your own or have them made for you, the dimensions i used are 4" in the front and 4.5" in the back. that is the correct taper to bring you back to factory driveline tolerances.
also i found that after i put on the front springs i had to pry the springs into place telling me that the track bar was to short. not by much but enough. so i made my own again. if i had to do it over again i would just buy an adjustable one.
i used rancho rs 9000's from a 2003 f350 diesel. seem ok.
as for the rear sway bar i have no comment as i dont have one YET.
if you have any other questions dont hesitate as i just did this only a few weeks ago
