Hey guys!!

Ive got a unique situation I think...Ive had my 2000 Ex, and I never looked when I bought it, I dont have the trailer hook up. I looked up under the bumper, and its just the open plug. I would like to have the 6pin and the flat 4 connection, just like the new ones have. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would much appriciate it!

Scott,

I bought a six pin to four pin adapter at NAPA, I think it was around 15$. I do however use an extra ground cable from trailor to bumper, usually a 10-12 gauge wire w/ alligator clips. It is amazing how many problems this wire will prevent.

6-pin connector? I think you're not including the center pin, which makes it a 7-pin connector. BTW, that type of connector is known as a Bargman connector ... a quite popular connector.

Thanks LANDYOT! Now that I'm no longer confused.....

Scott, my '01 Excursion came with only a Bargman connector in the rear and an adapter for the "flat four" connector in the glovebox. I still have the paperwork and may be able to get a part number if you like. I don't know what year Ford changed to the dual connector at the hitch. My cousin's '04 has that.

And IIRC, you can buy 7 to 4 connectors/convertors for them at Wal-Mart in the Auto section..
(I know i could when I lost my Jeep's 7 pin to 4 pin connector )
