So I decided to install my brand spankin' new Radius Rods yesterday. LandYot sent them to me carefully wrapped & looking good - all I needed was to have a little surgery on the stabilizer spring and bump stops. My buddy at CarX took care of that; used a grinder to cut the spring, torch to 'customize' the bumpstop. We also inspected my work on the sway bar install & found a flaw. When you bolt up the sway bar end hangers to the frame, make sure to use a large washer on BOTH sides of the grommet inserts. It will keep them from moving around as mine were doing. The radius rod install was a breeze. Everything fit perfectly and the instructions were clear. I wound up torqueing the axle clamp bolts to 65ft/lb & made sure the gaps were even on top & bottom. Spring clamp U-bolts went in without a hitch, torqued to spec as directed. Same with big rubber 'grommets' on the rod itself. I could tell the difference as soon as I backed out of the driveway! The X is MUCH more stable, ALL wandering is gone. It corners a lot better and the ride has less 'chop' than before. At 70 mph on the freeway, I can steer with little to no correction - as compared to constant adjustments pre-radius rods. I just returned from picking up our camper with my X. I had to come up through the Baltimore Beltway midafternoon in the pouring rain. Let me say pre radius rods that trip would have been a white knuckler but I had just installed them the previous week and they made the trip a whole lot
easier.
Thanks Ken for a very nice product. I would list them as one of the 3 must do's for X owners
