Ok, I've got a wierd one. I have searched the forums but can't find anything on this one. On cold days (40 degree's F or below) when the X has been sitting outside the garage (it's pampered ) the idiot "battery" light will flicker with the engines rev's. It will do that until the engine gets up to operating temp. It does not do it at idle though. Once it gets to temp, it stops. It does not do it again until it has sat for most of the day and is cold again. Anyone else had this problem?

Alternator light lights up when the truck is using more power than the alternator is putting out(glow plugs heating up)
Check your connectors going into the alternator for loose/corrosion.
Check your battery terminals.
Take the Excursion to a parts store that does free charging system checks but your X is within warranty run it by the dealer to put a charge system diagnostic on it.
Under a heavy load, the PCM should detect a problem, set a DTC and illuminate the warning indicator(battery/alternator light) so there might even be a trouble code embedded.
