Got my ftvb and 203 degree thermostat from Bob Riley on Sat. Installed them on Sunday. While changing out the thermo, decided to go ahead and install new radiator hoses and serpentine belt. After install was complete, took the X out for a spin. Noticed a big difference in shifting immediately . One other thing that caught my attention was the vibration on the brake pedal. Only noticed at idle and while stopped. After the test flight, I checked the belt install with the beast idling in the drive way. Everything looked normal. Anyone else noticed/had this problem? Is this something I can expect from a newly installed belt? Greatly appreciate any input

Eddie,
not that i can help now....but for future reference, maybe this will help...

I got into the habit of doing one thing then testing....
slower overall, but at least I know the last thing I changed did it

And the incident that taught me that...
back in college, my daily driver was a Triumph TR-6...
I changed the belts, the plugs, the plug wires, etc... etc.. about 8 or 9 things....

and when it wouldn't start... I had to determine which of the 8 or 9 things was done incorrectly...

hopefully, someone will be along shortly with that engine and issue that can help...

good luck,
John

Eddie I'd give Bob a call at 888-414-3457 or 888-414-3454 to get his assistance as he backs up his products

Did you get any coolant on the belt/pulleys?

Something may have been overlooked, not plugged back in,etc.since I wasn't there for the installs I really can't say

Give Bob a call to get his take

Thanks for the input Bill and John. This has been bugging me for the last few days. Got up this morning and went over everything under the hood that I had off/loose, etc. Nothing stood out. So I swapped out the new belt for the old one since this was the easiest starting point. VIBE IS GONE . Took it for a spin and it is running great . Now I am wondering what was wrong (if anything ) with the new belt. I purchased it at autozone and it is a Kelly/Springfield belt. Will be going back to the store to get my $ back. Any recommendations on belt type?

WOW - Great catch !!!!

I'd say the belt was just a BIT either the wrong size or "off" a bit....

it may have put an odd tweak on the pulleys just enough to allow it to "flap"

could u see it vibrating at idle or with some throttle ????

but good to hear you found it....

Eddie the Goodyear Gatorback V belt has had positive comments this week from another poster
It's almost time for me to replace the belt on our 7.3L as it's about 3 years old and our state safety inspection checks the belts so better safe that all's good when I roll into the inspection bay

John, when I checked the belt at idle in the driveway, didn't notice any "flap" or vibration. Didn't think to rev up the engine since the only time it was noticeable was during idle. Will have to check into the Goodyear gatorback that Bill is refering tofor replacement for the old belt . After this, MORE MODS
