I just ordered the Rancho RS9000X adjustable shocks to go on my 2003 4x4 Limited with 45k miles. I am debating whether or not to buy the remote control unit to put inside. But I do think I want it since I don't want my wife crawling under the X if she wants to change the ride in my absence.

So my question is where is a good spot to place the thing? If you have pictures that would be great so I can show the aftermarket guy where to place it. And what are it's dimensions?

My preference would be to have it in an out of the way place. I am not looking to have my interior look "industrial". But ANY pictures are greatly appreciated.

Also...should I be ordering the Rancho steering stabilizer?

I can't speak for the remote control but either the Rancho or ProComp ES2000 steering stabilizers will be a nice upgrade from the dwarf stock unit.

The upgraded steering stabilizer will be able to absorb rough railroad crossings, potholes, etc mu ch much better than the stocker. It's a sound investment.

Hi Cool...
got the 9000x's installed on my 03 4x4 X a while back and while I debated the interior controls,
I had heard more reports about the loss of vacuum from them than I cared to deal with...
(They are controlled by vacuum at all times to hold their position and unless they've improved on it, it was prone to failure) and given that you have multiple hoses from the control unit to the pump to each shock.... well... lot's of potential failure points...

the manual adjust are VERY easy to get to (for me)
and can't imagine someone NEEDING to change them too often...

I usually run mine on 1 all the time and have aired up my tires accordingly to get the best of both worlds....
Soft shock ride, but rather hard tires for better wear and mpg....

Good luck,
J

put mine iin the parts to sell corner of the basement.. seems cool in theory but for all praticle purposes is a pita. just more lines, fittings, , etc.. to fail and spend time on. Based on experiences the time and effort is not worth the gain.

Same here as we discussed the remote control setup and found some folks had trouble with air pressure loss and thats something I did not want the wife to deal with, the manual setup is easy to change if need to.
