I stopped by my local Ford dealer yesterday and they believe the '05 X to be "balanced out". Balanced out is company lingo for a certain model year to be sold out. As a former Ford rep that used to order vehicles, it is awfully early for a model to be balanced out this time of year.
Production schedules do change quite a bit but usually the earliest a model would be balanced out would be May.
I'm thinking two things:
1. Ford had a finite amount of production and it has been used up.
2. They are stopping orders for '05's and will take the rest of the orders as '06's and still finish building in September as planned. Not to mean the model will change at all, just that they'll rebadge some slated '05's as '06's yielding better residuals and enabling them to advertise that they offer the only HD SUV in '06 as well.
All speculation of course..... |

Hey Lance,
I ordered my X in early Feb.My dealer told me then, that they were going to stop taking orders for the X around mid May.I often wondered if they were only going to build as needed or just finish what they already had in stock.
But what do I know

I see a couple of other points;
Gas and diesel prices causing an early execution of business plan that was already in pace.
Needing production facilities for near term production of other SDs. It cost a lot less to mfg the p/u than the X.
So with sales takinga hit and no short term up swing being forecasted, cut the cord and move on to another product with a larger gross margin and better sales forecast..
