Yeah. I know it sounds crazy, but I would like to add a cat to my X.

Not sure if there are any requirements in Europe, but was wondering if anyone has done this?

With all the studies out there that say that the particulates are harmful, and with 4 kids, I wanted to minimize the exposure.

I was looking at prices and it seems as though one to fit my X will be approx. $1000. I know that the US EPA has a program out there to retrofit fleets and public transportation but not individual vehicles.

I'm sure there will be a performance hit but is it really going to be that much?

I don't ofter hear about owners that want to add a cat to a Diesel when it didn't come with one but I will have to say there'll be a restriction added to the exhaust flow which in turn could cause backpressure to the engine and who knows what all around negative effects that could have

To reduce the particulates you'll want to raise the engine temperature up some to it's optimum range it was desinged for.

I added a 203 degree thermostat which helped reduce the smoke amount if any
