I need your help in selecting the wire under the dash I can tap into to power the 18 amp compressor for my air pump. I can use a realy so the coil doesn't pull any amps. if needed, but need to know which wire will be hot only when key is on.

Sorry to be so dramatic, but I'm running out of time.
(First post below)
I have everything wired up, but I need to switch the hot wire so I only have power when the key is on.
Also, I need to tap into another convenient location for my tranny gage light.
Could you help me locate the places to tap into?
Thanks, Oz. |

sorry bud, I can't think of any wire color of hand for the quick fix. But what I would do is look at the radio controls for a tap. check it out with a volt meter to find the one that is hot with the key on and hook it up that way. with a relay you can't go wrong. The radio fuse also has a little more to play with then the other fusses.

If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out.

Thanks, Bill
I will look into that tomorrow. We are headed to Colorado from Kansas City, and I want it to work.
We are pulling our 30' 10K # TT out there.
I changed out the light duty air lines for my on board air, and air horn today, had to silver solder some 1/4" copper to 3/8" hose barb fittings for the air horn, I ran all 3/8" I.D. air lines.
I have an access for my female quick disconnect and a pressure gage in the spare tire and rear A/C enclosure. (I have level-air bags for the trailer wheels.)
Take care, Oz. |
