Hey just got the Ex back from getting fixed after it demolished a Chevy Van. However the body shop adjusted the light and they are not the same! When I flick on the brights there worse than the regular lights!!! They say there set to factory and its because its lifted!!! WHATEVER!!! How do I adjust them? Can I just pull it up to the garage door and adjust them up a few inches and how??? It has a 6" lift with 36x14.50x16.50 PJ Dirt Grips.... Thanks for any assistance!
Sorry for the lame ass thread! |

Charles-
there is a TORX bolt (similar to an allen head) on each side of the light on the top outside edge near the front to adjust the lamp up or down. The inboard ones adjust left to right. You should be able to find them at Sears. I have a ratcheting screwdriver that I use for the adjustment that will accept the TORX bit. They may even have an assortment with several popular sizes, but these are somewhat of a "specialty" type of bolt head so not every place is going to have them. ( I also have the luxury of the local Snap On truck stopping at my house on a regular basis so I have collected all sorts of odd ball wrenches and funky tools over the years)
Your best bet is to park on level ground in front of a brick wall or garage door, maybe 15-20 feet away. You can use the lower line of light from the reflector to line up both lamps. Hope this helps.

Flyfishingguru is correct. I ran to Sears yesterday and purchased a TORX wrench set for $12.99 since I also needed to adjust my headlights. Goes to show you Charles no thread is lame because someone else is bound to have the same issue!
I used the following site to help me align my lights:

Yeah Johnboy as you clearly know Sears is big here. And speaking of Sears and tools....I just read that K-mart (who bought Sears recently) is going to be carrying Craftsman tools in some of their stores. And they are renaming/redesigning some K-marts into Sears stores. Sears will soon be everywhere!
By the way, I like how you calibrate your lights. Believe me, after I adjusted mine I ran a test similar to yours!

Ya know,
off topic, but
Had a bud who was working for K-Mart and
was worried about his job since he flew around the country (and the Bahamas!)
to be the general contractor and build their new stores....
all the rumors about layoffs, store closings, etc... worried him...
but if you think about it, they had some PRIME real estate for years.....
I always wondered how if K-Mart was doing so badly, How did they "buy" Sears ?!?
rebadging the stores certainly does help the "image" of some of the stores that have suffered recently....

and reading your trucks bio - yours and mine are almost clones except for the engines and the line of fires !!!!
And I've LUSTED after those line of fires, but didn't know if they would fit properly under the "patio" doors... - you got pics of yours ?

I don't have pics of my line of fires yet but can get some this week. It is easily the most positively and frequently commented on part of my X. They look "factory" and really light up. I also like the positioning because it is right in the face of any car behind me and they know when I am stopping and turning.
On Saturday I was at the Ford dealer for an oil change and the service manager asked me about the line of fires and said he really liked them. I took that as a great compliment considering how many Ford trucks he sees a week. And by the way, I took the X in for the oil change at 9:30 in the morning so that tells you how well the leds light up.
I think you would really like them.
